Water and food contamination are a growing serious threat to consumer health. Minor daily illness, serious long-term illness and death occur as a result of water and food contamination. The Centers for Disease Control reports that approximately 1 million cases of illness and 900 deaths occur each year in the United Stated alone as the result of water-borne microbial infection. Health Canada reports that there have been over 400 contamination outbreaks within the food industry since 1990. It appears that every other month or so the news reports another e.coli contaminated food outbreak somewhere in North America. The home is quickly becoming the last line of defense. Consumers want to protect themselves and their loved ones. In this day and age they are looking for effective natural and environmentally friendly solutions.
